Just found this really cute video on Don't Trip Yet Blog of the group Nola Darling. I've def seen them, but there sound is so refreshing because it's what we remember from the 90's--neo-soul, conscious hip hop vibe with a modern twist. Melo X, also one of their producers, makes an appearance as Aziza's admirer.

Read more about them on myspace or at M.I.S.S. Crew

It's a bit early for a Spring preview , but I couldn't resist sharing with you what H&M has up their sleeve for the next season. Ditzy prints, metallic fabrics and ah-mazing shoes, not to mention the outrageously daring leather jumpsuit!

H&M pushed their talent to the limit for our wearing pleasure and I can't wait!

Whenever I have a minute to kill, I'm in a nearby H&M. But sometimes I pick things up that aren't even me--something I don't realize until the oversized, mid 40's, grandma-length piece on!

Maybe I couldn't get past the wrinkles. Or maybe I had it stuck in my mind that when the top is open it makes "my hips look bigger" as my mom says about a similar top that she has.

But I styled the hell out of it and still wasn't convinced. Were you?

Steph and friends told me about this YouTube video with Rihanna telling off her makeup artist after watching one of her old videos.

Hilarious, and the behind the scenes footage is exciting. Plus, a mini black panther almost tears her face off! Careful, RiRi!

Grammy award winner Pharrell Williams and his company Bionic is teaming up with Moncler to design a reversible puffer vest, which was inspired by a bullet proof vest. Pharrell's company Bionic, is known for they use of recycled bottles and turning them into yarns and fabric. I feel as if Bionic is a dope concept, but this recycled fabric is going to cost a grip. Still a cool vest if you can get your hands on one.

How unbearable is life? NY Mag reported that Daul Kim, 20, one among our standout models who didn't hoard the spotlight like a 1950s starlet died yesterday. Found in her home, it's only known that she comitted suicide. Read the interview below, for what I believe is her last American editorial.

Pulp Art Book. A slew of magazines, blogs and the like have featured it, but I think the collaborative project between model, Joni Harbeck and photog Neil Krug is brilliant enough to be featured once more.

Completely re-creating an era aesthetic with their own twist thoughts of the epic 1970s porn and Pam Grier as Jackie Brown come to mind at images of Joni in various vignettes.

Joni as a fugitive. Joni as a pregnant mistress. Joni as a Cherokee Warrior. See more here.

Vintage supermodels staking their place under the sun among the blossoming ducklings like beloved Dree or Lara.

Still boasting the voluptuousness and excessive hairspray of the late 80s era from which they emerged, Eva, Helena and Claudia i-D cover definitely solidifies a continued look to the past in fashion.

I've taken The Selby approach to my own home. Snapping inspiring aspects that tell a little about me.

Call us trashy, but ever since an open colt 45 bar this past summer, Steph and I are obsessed!
As for the perfume bottles, I was going to throw them out one day but they looked cute all bunched together.

A keyholder to most, a chunky necklace holder to me.

Yes, that is a copy of Slavery & Social Death on the top shelf. I minored in African American History in school...and a Polaroid camera that I haven't used since I was like 10.

DEETS: H&M dress [layered to look like a skirt], Vintage floral top and blazer, FC tights, Uniqlo socks, Frye platforms

I don't know what I was thinking.

I wanted to experiment. So I layed it out on the bed. Thought it looked good. Refused to second guess it. But it worked.

DEETS: French Connection cardigan [added removable shoulders], American Apparel u-neck dress [cut into a top] and thigh high socks, H&M jeans, Aldo wedges.

If you follow what I wear, you know that I'm good for an optical illusion. Here I've substituted actual thigh high boots for a thigh high sock. Proof that style is not about what you have but how you wear something.

I have a confession you guys...

Photobucket

...I'm addicted to denim shirts.

Photobucket

A chunk of my high school closet was dedicated to them. I always found them to be rugged, yet chic and crisp. I quit denim shirts in 2003, but I'm feeling that itch again thanks to the chambray denim shirts popping up everywhere.

Guys, pair your denim chambray with cropped streamline pants and oxfords. Gals, use it as a layering piece for your fave body con dress. Another reason? It'll give you an excuse to say "Chambray."

DEETS: H&M sweatshirt, American Apparel jeans, Aldo wedges, Uniqlo men's HeatTech socks, Odd & Even cuffs

I'm playing with the idea of putting all my looks into these fairytale princess frames. What do you think?

This is what I wore to help my friend shop with a Diesel Stipend for a Diesel trip. Personal shopping calls for something cute but comfortable.

Check out my Aldo wedges with these new HeatTech socks by Uniqlo. Got a gift card from a HeatTech event and have bought two styles of the men's socks already. They're long enough to bunch and cute enough to wear with sandals. I wear a grayish-oatmeal cable knit style with my brown sandals. They're a snart way to extend the life of your favorite spring/summer wedges!

As seen on the runway of Junya Watanabe, Spring/Summer 2010 collections look to cut it short. Not short with designs and details but short with length. Short shorts and capris are the what to do for the upcoming season. Able to be worn with light spring jackets, blazers, and the denim jacket you have in your closet from this past season. If possible, match it up with a pair of saddle shoes or topsiders boat shoes. This look reminds me of that late night walk on the beach outfit. Just remember to keep it simple, the outfit will speak for itself.

Keeping my eyes open during this winter months for the shoes and shirts to match with some capris.

Speaking of inspiration, a great source for vintage and current fashion/beauty shots is the new blog, House of Fluff. My favorites are the '80s editorials and album covers! With a fantastical collection of editorials from now and then, you're sure to spend your precious minutes on site.

source???

These photos are all ones that I've collected over the past few weeks for inspiration of either my style or my jewelry line. I really didn't have any intention to post them, hence why I didn't save the source for any of them...well except the first shot.

I encourage you to do the same. Surf blogs and tumblrs...collect images that speak to you, even for no apparent reason and save them. Soon you'll see the underlying reasons for your style, personality or interests.

Happy Inspiration Hunting!
