A huge fan of Proenza Schouler, I wasn't surprised that designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez produced another innovative and lust-worthy collection! The backbone of the collection--the Native American blanket prints that were literally zoomed in on until pixelated. Highlighted with pops of color as if extracted from points on the prints, the collection is like a mosaic of sorts. The thumbnail gallery does a great job of showing that.

Flipping the bird in peacoats. Swigging 40s in Fashionably frizzed out hair. Playing on the tracks in refined thigh highs and mini skirts. The Proenza Schouler and Harmony Korine's collaboration is a beautiful mix of reality, fiction, surrealism and fashion. Below are some of my favorite lines in the narration:

See Jack and Lazaro's thoughts on the video/extension of the collection below. They speak on why they sought Korine to direct and the importance of the state of the characters' situation as disenfranchised, corrupt and hopeful.
In a Q&A with Korine on ProenzaSchouler.com, he's asked what about the Fall collection inspired "Act Da Fool." He says:
"The patterns and paint drips on their clothes spoke to me. It said "go fuck up the world, burn shit, blow it up, eat mud, snort glue, drink a lot of malt liquor and eat some fried chicken, watch some strippers throw down the booty and find God."

They Lazaro and McCollough woo me as they pin and tuck models in the fit session. Close up shots of the prints bring the vintage quality of the aesthetic to life. Finally, to see the designers in a cable knit crew and a fitted surrounded by all this amazingness that they've created is brilliant.

A mix of edgy and sexy. Skulls and roses. Every bit is intentional--the snake wrapped heel, the infusion of red muted by sharp black studded leather and earthy turquoise and browns in a pile of bangles.
The clamoring of pieces on the wrist and clicking of the heel against the pavement says "I'm so confident, I don't mind making a little noise." What I want to wear now!
The design partnership between Jack and Lazaro is like a romantic, beautiful destiny. As simply put as that. Their opposites combine to make something new. Their similarities and harmony is what keeps them together.
Other than respecting them as designers, I just love their shades and their Fall '10 collection to bits and pieces!

A MAGAZINE is the best thing since what ever the last "best thing ever!" was. I love the sleek yet audacious design. You don't see audacious? Pages=$$$ A page of color says I have a closet full of Loubis and Chanel 2.55 bags in fashion speak.
So get into it...A MAGAZINE is a biannual publication that invites a guest curator [an international fashion designer, group or house] to develop the content and aesthetic of the issue.
Typically, there's a meeting at the beginning and maybe the end between the designer and the magazine's staff. They brainstorm ideas according to the designer's vision and start on pitches, pulls, etc--all the work of the staff. But this, refreshingly, feels like it's so heavy with influence from the designer. My fave pages are in this post, but check out the entire issue here.

Prints packing tons of punch take the drab out of the usual vacation wear of shorts and flip flops. From Bonnaroo to Lallopalooza, the summer is booming with musical festivals and these pieces would be perfect. Remember casual does not have to mean boring. Catch you in St. Tropez! I was watching Dateline on E! with Steven Tyler on Sunday--the man's style is absolutely inspiring. His feather embellished hair has more style than most can claim altogether! He inspired the first collage. And who knew, Janis Joplin was his inspiration early on.
As for styling tips, blend quality with fast fashion for unique looks and a pocket-friendly budget. You won't mind a little splurge when you wear it all the time! No worries about exhausting it's styling potential--behemoths like Top Shop and H&M will always keep your look fresh.

MY MAIN TIPS:
Blouses and pants in silk or polyester, or some blend other than just cotton looks polished right away. Look out for these fabrics to upgrade your look.
Take advantage of the Dynasty/Working Girl focus in fashion! Wear a blazer! It makes a decent tank and a slouchy trouser or body con skirt look profesh' and modern!
*Another blazer tip: Belt a blousy blazer with a belt for a new spin on the look.
Keep accessories minimal. One statement piece at a time. A Pyramid cuff is a nice touch of eccentricity to wake up a look.
Add an interesting shoe to the mix to keep things fun. Keep the color muted and play up the style and skin.
