Doing this today! See the deets here. Then a BBQ later with my girls at my boys'.
BeeTeeDub, I def didn't give you a heads up on 40oz Bounce yesterday. It turned out to be a 0oz Bounce but I did come away with a bunch of shots of amazing peeps. I'll post em all after the holiday!

So I had a great time hanging out with Holland-based stylist, Naphtaly Rooi last week. It was temporarily punctuated by another wardrobe malfunction, see my first one here. My beautiful silk Indian Harem pants were falling apart right on me! I'm talkin about shredded on the side where my bag rubs on my leg and somehow sliced in the back!
But Am App to the rescue. We dipped in and I scooped up a pair of these tri-blend leggins and that wire head tie.
After a cute party at The Foundaion for Yours Truly Brand, we ran into Shaun Ross and he gave me a tongue lashing for missing his b-day [backstory: I had a blonde moment and mixed up the date]. Honest mistake...no shade to Shaun--ever! See what he gives on a Thursday night below. Yaaasss, kilt!

Here's Corey, my friend and male muse! He shows us how to do a graduated basic. Here it's the Drapey Knit Tee [by Alexander Wang].

With the baby bump and weight out of the way, a new album in tow and all my friends waiting for her return, we were due for an editorial from M.I.A.
Glad she got the hint...

It's truly a joy to find street style looks that embody what I want to wear or that look just like something I would put together. I'm checking off my list of ingredients for these looks...

So this has been the week of wardrobe malfunctions. With this particular outfit, I spent the day at work in a sweater over this dress, patterned tights and oxfords. Sorta low key...
A million degrees hotter after work, I peeled off the tights, slipped on the wedges and the white blazer, a fresh coat of my pastel pink pout. Good to go for Chay's fashion show gala [for the BK Waldorf School].
But not so fast...right away I felt "too much." The dress felt too short for the wedges or vice versa. So I hopped off the train en route to the show just to scour SoHo for decent flats to wear instead, only to get back on the train with the same wedges after hearing that I, in fact, looked great.
No matter how much style you think you have, sometimes you just have to hear, plain and simple, "You look great!"
I'll update you on the other wardrobe malfunction for the week soon!

I'll be there with Napthaly Rooi of Polyroyt and my girl Eniola..after some thai.
See ya lata!

This editorial reminds me of a powerful scripture that reads something like, "Just be stil..." I've been killing myself to find it! God says to Moses [possibly], Just be still. In the face of craziness and turbulent times, be still--don't worry, don't cause a fuss and He see you through.

A maxi feels best in the summer...the air flows free and you look effortless and bohemian or beachy. Follow the advice on this excerpt from TopShop: pile on the breight accessories despite the bright 'fit, it's summertime!...almost

Ciara shocked us last season as Ricardo Tisci's [Givenchy] new muse. She shocks us again in this animalistic, hyper sexualized editorial in Vogue Paris, styled by the designer himself!

Stop It Right Now is the blog by the girl with the amazing nails featured on your favorite photo blog/tumblr...these shots have been everywhere and it almost blows my mind that she designs her nails herself!
Besides crazy mani skills, her style is a breath of fresh air--organic and experimental. Visit her blog! Here!

One visit on "Style Like U" is dangerous when I have a "To Do" list lined up. I literally lose sense of time and responsibility on the site. All the features are just so interesting! I'm excited to say that a couple of friends have recently been featured.
First up is my girl Celia Smith, who I've known since my days interning at Vibe Vixen where she was the fashion assistant. She now runs the blog, A Fraction of Fashion and is developing her own line Thraed.

Here's Ugo! Designer and just plain 'ol super fly guy. You'll know him if you see him on the street, he never misses a beat...

Former model, Jenny Shimuzi and Bess Sales Consultant Zamari Graham-Smith aren't my friends. I don't know them at all...but I wish I did! Both of them say profound ideas and Jenny blew my mind when she flips the brim of her fedora and instantly makes it so her, so effortlessly! You'll see what I mean...

I don't usually do "cutie" posts despite tons of amazing male models to gaze at. But this editorial where Red model Derek Keeton owns tights and nakedness takes the cake.
What I would like to say to him? "Sir, you're amazing. And if you want to wear my textured tights or statement necklaces...that's fine!"
For the guys, there's a hot shot of Sigrid Agren in the May issue of Numero magazine.

I wonder what would become of my getting dressed if I limited my closet, drawers and shelves of fashion wares to a rack of 14-20 pieces! I would need a different 14-20 for each season and then a small set of seasonless pieces...
But what about all my jackets. blazers and coats? I would need a separate rack for them and a hanger for belts, hats and scarves...Other than that, I pretty much go back to the same pieces anyway. Maybe this is an idea worth trying. What d'you think?

Joe Zee (fashion editor of US Elle) says that you're young and fresh enough to wear runway trends. I agree. Do it while you can [or at least before you look ridiculous]!
Wear the black pout before you look like an old Morticia Addams. Wear the turban before it looks like you need it. And finally mix patterns like crazy before you look like you couldn't tell colors apart! Have fun getting dressed...

I love those nights hen you just stumble on some shit. Well what a huge party to stumble on. Bev "nowhere to be found" Smith hosted the star-studded Belvedere party last night. Besides me going allll the way up for Tristen Wilds and wanting him to be my boyfriend or living for Sesillee, our peers looked amaze. I went off about the whole night on twitter. Follow me boo!

Makeup is so much more playful and refined than the recent past that I bet even a Burt's Bees girl is tipping to Sephora...
See my favorites looks in Vogue China, showing us sherbert swirled mugs and remixed top knots to make the average bun so envious, Natalia Vodianova in a throwback 2008 Vogue Italia with an intense red pout and Terry Richardson and Karlie Kloss for the YSL Summer 2010 beauty campaign...

Get embellished, shoulder sweeping, dynasty-eque ear interests! I've been feeling this coming on for a bit now but it's definitely hit if H&M is doing it.
It'll be the look for this and next S/S. Definitely not recommended for Fall, with all the scarves and hats etc and bare shoulders will look best...

M.I.A. and Alexander Wang clean up so nicely for the MET Gala. While M.I.A. is known for her ludicrous style choices that seem the mesh so effortlessly with Bambo Banging moments and Alexander Wang carries the model off duty look better than his models, they both dressed for the occasion while staying true to their aesthetics.

I've loved Cosmic Collection for a bit now but Chris has birthed a new badass creation called Garçon Christen. It's all his wears and he gets a bit avant garde. I love his denim on denim look above. Just something to keep us inspired. Check for it here.

Deets: Vintage floral jacket/ Vintage cami via my mom/ The 7-year-old H&M pants/ Steve Madden wedges
I must have had these pants for like 7 years now. Some things you just hold onto because even though its moment has passed, you know that they'll be relevant again. And even if someone challenges their fashion relevance, that is irrelevant to you because the piece has become re-inducted into your style repertoire. So excuse me while I bask in the relevance of these 7-year-old cargo pants!
