Jamaican women go the extra mile when it comes to fashion. The colors are brighter. The weaves are fantastical. And the clothes are tight and /or artisically distressed and inspired by BET's of-the-moment fave. 

When film maker, Anna Alissa sent me a link to the documentary she made in downtown Kingston, Jamaica this past Spring focusing on the area's street side salon and barbershop culture, I knew she was right when she said I'd love it.

My family is Jamaican [with a dash of Cuban] and I appreciate the good and the misunderstood of my culture. Anna's video enlightens me to a side of Jamaica, only having visited once, that I haven't seen personally. Enjoy!

She wears your clothes better than you do.
She looks cute when she dunks on you.
She eats lollipops in the barber shop with you.
Everyone loves when you bring her out to play pool.
And where did you go!? Oh, she also eats you under the table!

So if it looks like I can't breathe...or like my knees are dying for a way out of this cotton stretch amalgamation of a zippered pant, you're not mistaken. Oh, what we do for lewks [looks]!

I love the rust color of these jeans, but my waist line hated the size. Refusing to go up from my usual 28/29 size at American Apparel, I got them...with every intention to lose a solid 10.

Out shopping for cute tops and sweaters per my sister's Christmas gift request, I stumbled on several pieces that I liked for myself. With holiday markdowns, I was my own Secret Santa.

I never noticed this piece before. But with the versatility to be worn as sample as a dress or an overcoat, I had to get it. //59.95 -> sale $20!//
