A mod, 70's, punk amalgamation strutted casually down the Openspace Gallery runway on Thrusday night.
For her Fall 08 collection, Samantha Pleet draws inspiration from friends and '70s style icons like Jane Fonda, creating what she calls "adventure clothes." "They're perfect for every occasion and a long night," Pleet says.
A long night in the bookings, maybe. The show's theme, wrapped in wrecklessness that ends in mugshots, can be seen from the moment you walk into the space as those mugshots line the cocktail area walls.
Pleets '70s approach comes through in her "Deflowered" dresses and blouses of tiny floral prints. Her mod interpretation can also be seen distinctly in the "Double Agent" shirt--with two collars on one shirt you never have to choose between popped or not.
There were also some Victorian touches that seemed nonsequitorial--high ruffled collared shirts for ladies? I'll pass, but I'll take two rompers, please!
