Models line up in Lyell AW 2008
Guess who worked as a dresser at the Lyell fashion show....
......................
Yes, that's me! I buttoned, snapped, and slipped three models (Natalie is pictured here) into the 1920s-inspired work of designer Emma Fletcher for Lyell.
.......................
As models trickled in and sat steady for hair and makeup primping, we wondered where catering was and I chatted with the key beauty stylists.
.......................
The detailed collars of Fletcher's pieces as well as the vintage theme called for uncompeting hair and makeup. "Hair that's young and fresh and unobtrusive matches Emma's exquisite clothing," said key hairstylist Gerald DeCock.
.......................
DeCock told me that the idea behind his look was "messy ballerina hair." To achieve the look of a ballerina after she's danced, the stylists just used a little Bumble and Bumble Does It All hair spray and some hair pins to make a bun and preserve those natural fly aways at the nape of the neck.
......................
For makeup, Searon McGratton kept it focused on the era at hand. Fresh skin, red nails and lips adorned with Poppy lipstick and eyes that softly glittered with M.A.C.'s Gold Mine eyeshadow transformed all the models into little '20s socialites.
....................

You would never know that when the "catering" finally came (veggie and pepperoni pizza) they had all had a slice.
