Tomorrow will be September. Shows from a couple of my fave designers to get you ready for camel colors, 70's silhouettes, furs and leather!

For the times when everything seems skewed and you know it's distorted and convoluted but still you believe, here are these shots...and promises of sanity.

I had my manicurist try three colors on me...a red--as usual, a bubblegum pink and this bad boy: Lapid of Luxury by Essie. It's definitely blue without looking crazy. The periwinkle-like tone makes it almost neutral. Love, love!

You may have tried at least a couple in the mirror, but it's even more sad when they show up in editorials!

Isn't this dude just way too cool?! It looks so staged, but like he's so much cooler than even that in real life. He reminds me of Corey, who's been on the blog a bunch before [see those posts here].

Headed to SoHo afterwork and at the ATM I turned around and spotted Shay of Flashy Stylista walking by!
This was amazing, not just because she's super cool and we're blogger friends but haven't met yet, but also because she's St.Martinese, from Paris and currently living in Miami. To catch her was coincidence!
So we spent the evening shopping together. FootLocker, American Appare, St. Marks for cheapy shades and Trash and Vaudville were our stops...

Deets: Urban Outfitters blouse [pinned up sleveeves as vest], Forever 21 Dress [DIY cut into a crop top], Forever 21 skirt, Aldo wedges
I definitely turned heads at my family cookout this weekend. The older folks looked super facinated. I loved the outfit and felt super cute but I'd rather not be fashion forward with family. Toning it down at the next cookout...Shorts and sneaks!

Summer is...
coming out the wood work
blooming love passed
flighty love
colt 45 chasing Jack+Ginger
crop tops and bikini bottoms
cut offs and stoops
sidewalk cafes and late late brunch
sunsets at 9pm
sheer situations introducing lace
hot nights
naked sleep
humid mornings
and over again...

They gave her a tee and a smoky eye and she ran with it, embodyng all the coolness that is T by Alexander Wang. The campaign shots could get no better than starring the most low key "It" girl around, Zoe Kravitz.

Liya Kebede, the Ethipian-born top model who generally wears not a stitch of makeup in appearances is almost unrecognizable as herself in this punked out, high exposure-edited story.
But she owns it and I believe it. Yes, that's pretty much all that matters...

These girls are so other worldly. Big eyed, bohemian/archived vintage/high fashion covered pint-sized moguls.

I just call 'em girls with style...and yes, they happen to be black. Or should we identify them, and us, as "black" girls with style...but doesn't that denote that it's an unusual happening?
But let's be honest, I get many a strange looks in the Bronx when I bust out my medium brim fedora in the Fall.

The fall 2010 Marc Jacobs collection is wrapped around this 1950s/1960s secretary and her nightlife look. She rarely goes out, so when the opp comes along she is all sequins, floor length situations and vintage fur and ombre paisley pieces.
